 Oregain

What is in Oregain? Oregain is a blend of essential oils and citric acids that can be added to feed or drinking water. Essential oils are botanical extracts of herbs, spices and other plants and include extracts from oregano, eucalyptus, rosemary, savory, lemon and garlic.

What does Oregain do? Oregain enhances beneficial microflora and feed palatability. Producers in the European community have been utilizing botanicals in animal diets as growth promoters. Research has shown that growth and feed efficiency of beef cattle were improved when Oregain was included in grower rations. In swine, performance was enhanced when essential oils were added to grower and finisher rations.

How do essential oils improve intestinal health? Combining essential oils and organic acids alters the microflora of the ruminant GI tract, decreases ammonia production and increases propionate production. Numerous studies show that plant extracts have a positive effect on intestinal microflora and health of the gastro-intestinal tract.

Why does Oregain use a blend of essential oils? Using more than one source of plant extract for our essential oils improves the consistency of Oregain across different diets, feeding programs and individual animal characteristics. Research has shown that specific essential oils respond well to different types of diets. Therefore, using a blend promotes consistency as your livestock changes diets.

Why add an organic acid to Oregain? Blending essential oils with organic acids, such as citric acid, has a synergistic response on performance of animals. For example, combining essential oils and organic acids in swine feed will produce greater feed intake as compared to control diets and control plus essential oils.

Does Oregain have any effect on feed efficiency? Yes, heifers and steers fed Oregain gained more efficiently than animals in the control group. The feed efficiency of the Oregain group was 10.3% better than the control group.

Have your studies shown any downside to using Oregain? Ingredients in Oregain are generally recognized as safe (GRAS). There have been no reports of negative responses from the use of Oregain.

What age groups should receive Oregain? Oregain is safe for all age groups of animals. However, it is highly recommended in young livestock to give them an edge before they enter your herd. Developing good intestinal health at the earliest stage possible makes your feeding program even more efficient. Oregain does not have a withdrawal and there are no residuals in meat and therefore, can be used all the way to market.

How long should my animals be fed Oregain? Oregain can be fed throughout the growth cycle.  It is especially beneficial in young animals.  Refer to Technical Support section or Contact Us for further information.

Should I use Oregain in my calves’ milk or water supply? Oregain liquid can be used in either water or milk.  Adding Oregain into calves’ daily feeding of milk is a convenient way of obtaining the benefits of Oregain.

Can I use Oregain in my milking herd? Oregain can benefit dry and lactating cows that are showing signs of stress.  Oregain can be added to the feed, water or used as a drench without altering the flavor of the milk.

 Oregain for Poultry

What is in Oregain for Poultry? Oregain for poultry is a blend of essential oils and citric acids that can be added to drinking water. Essential oils are botanical extracts of herbs, spices and other plants and include extracts from oregano, eucalyptus, rosemary and lemon.

What is Oregain for Poultry going to do for my birds? Oregain produced birds that were 4.75% heavier at day 35 than broilers receiving control rations. Broilers fed essential oils had greater water intake and lower mortality than broilers fed control diets.

How do essential oils improve intestinal health? Combining essential oils and organic acids alters the microflora of the gastro-intestinal tract and increases energy and lactobacillus production.  Numerous studies show that plant extracts have a positive effect on intestinal microflora and health of the gastro-intestinal tract.

How is Oregain for Poultry different than Oregain? The concentrations of the ingredients are specifically designed for livestock and poultry.

Why does Oregain for Poultry use a blend of essential oils? Using more than one source of plant extract for our essential oils improves the consistency of Oregain across different diets, feeding programs and individual poultry characteristics. Research has shown that specific essential oils respond well to different types of diets, therefore, using a blend promotes consistency in performance as the diet changes.

Why add an organic acid to Oregain for Poultry? Blending essential oils with organic acids, such as citric acid, has a synergistic response on performance of poultry.  Citric Acid is commonly added to drinking water and poultry feed.

Have your studies shown any downside to using Oregain for Poultry?Ingredients in Oregain are generally oultry?recognized as safe (GRAS).  There have been no reports of negative responses from the use of Oregain.

At what stage of the growing process should I add Oregain for Poultry? Oregain is safe for all age groups of birds. However, it is highly recommended in brooder chicks and poults for two weeks immediately following placement  to give them an edge before they enter the growing phase. Developing good intestinal health at the earliest stage possible makes your feeding program even more efficient.  It is also recommended that Oregain be used 2 to 3 weeks before slaughter to promote water intake and retention.  Oregain does not have a withdrawal and there are no residuals in meat.

How long should my chicks be on Oregain for Poultry? Oregain can be fed throughout the growth cycle.  It is especially beneficial in chicks and poults.  Refer to Technical Support section or Contact Us for further information.

Can I use Oregain for Poultry in layers? Oregain has been used in laying hens that have been experiencing stress due to transport, molting, and disease. Oregain can be added to feed or drinking water without altering the flavor of the eggs.

 Micropuran for Poultry

What is MicroPuran for Poultry? MicroPuran for Poultry is a blend of enzymes, absorbents, oxidants, nutrients and selected anaerobic microbes designed to reduce ammonia emission, retain nitrogen in waste, and aid in solids digestion.

What are the uses of MicroPuran for Poultry? MicroPuran for Poultry is applied directly to litter to reduce ammonia production and aid in composting.

What are the benefits from using MicroPuran for Poultry? MicroPuran provides ammonia control throughout the growing period with one easy application.  It is non-corrosive and safe for equipment, people and birds. MicroPuran will benefit your bottom line by providing a better environment for your poultry, improving your litter value, saving application time, and improving the population of favorable bacteria in your litter.

How is MicroPuran for poultry different from other products on the market? Unlike most other litter amendments MicroPuran is all natural and non-caustic. Application is fast and easy. Storage area is minimal (12 bottles per case). Expected shelf life is in excess of two years when stored properly.

How is MicroPuran for Poultry different from MicroPuran for Livestock? Ingredients in MicroPuran for Poultry were selected to primarily reduce ammonia and aid in composting of litter whereas ingredients in MicroPuran for Livestock were selected to primarily reduce ammonia and solids in liquid manure systems.

How do I apply MicroPuran for Poultry? One to two pounds of MicroPuran for Poultry are blended with 150 to 300 gallons of non-chlorinated water (inoculant) and sprayed uniformly over the litter 7 to 10 days before arrival of chicks or poults.  Approximately 2/3 of the inoculant should be applied to the brooder area with the remaining inoculant applied to the rest of the house.

Do I need to till the litter? Tilling will actually increase the amount of ammonia produced.  We recommend normal decaking procedures followed by inoculant application without tilling.

Do I need to follow any other proceduresClose house doors and vents following application and maintain building temperatures above 50ºF for 7 days.  Turn fans on daily as needed to remove excess ammonia.

What results can I expect? Ammonia levels will initially rise slightly and then begin to decrease by day 3 or 4 post-application.  Ammonia levels will be reduced within 7 to 10 days after treatment and remain low throughout the growing period.
